Termites (White Ants) cause extensive damage to homes before they
are discovered and generally the home owner is totally unaware, until major
structural damage becomes apparent. Even steel framed homes suffer extensive
damage to mouldings, gyprock, furniture and some floor coverings.
In fact, some new slab on ground brick veneer homes have been subject to
termite attack as early as six months from being completed.
Consequently a Specialist Pest Inspection is strongly recommended on any
home you are buying or intend to bid on at auction.
What is involved in an effective termite inspection?
Only people specially trained in pest detection should undertake an inspection.
Specialised equipment capable of detecting the moisture in termite trails
behind walls must be used, as well as equipment that enables the inspector
to listen for termite activity where visual access is not possible.
An effective Pest Inspection will also check for borer damage and activity,
rot and fungi as well as other less destructive pests.
Guidance Building Services can organise pest inspection through our specialist
pest sub-contractor to be carried out at the same time as the building
inspection.
Guidance ensure that these inspectors meet our strict standards of customer
protection and service. Therefore we insist they carry professional insurance
and are available to meet you on site at the time of the inspection to discuss
findings and recommendations.
